have you someone to convey greetings to them?
Shall I find one to convey her a greeting?

The tribe’s compassion is below the living one, wandering while yearning
for a mouth, and bright blades snatching heads.
For an opening, and the snatching of the eggs is a concern

I visit them by stealth and by storming in.
I visit them stealthily and stormily

I subdue them attacking and transgressing
and visit them by night, tormented and love-crazed.
And I make them yield to the meaning in bewilderment

A covenant which if we fulfilled desire
we would have wept a year for every day of it.
We would cry every day of it a year

More just, you do wrong and I blame

just as a beauty never lacks a detractor.

None ascended the heights of glory
after fasting from improvising verse.

None has settled on glory's highest summit but
He has a pen, nights proceed with it
a great man who dispels great afflictions.
So they follow obediently and structurally

He has a pen by which the nights are bridled,
We did not see any pen in a palm
so they follow it, obedient and compliant.
That became for the time of its owner a rein
فلمso never نَرَhave we seen مثْلَهlike it قلماًa pen بكفٍّin a hand

It rose above following the nights,
Time wandered confused in darkness
and defied them with proud refusal and mastery.
So it wanders confused in the dawn of darkness

And time spat dawn into darkness,
And the subtleties of glory appear from it
but the pen went on spitting darkness into dawn.

He bestows with diffusion and arrangement

In a radiant man's hand, pearls never cease to flow,
The dawns stoop to the youth of pens as whites
lavished by him, scattered and strung.

فَدُمْتَso may you endure كماas دُعيتَyou were named لهاfor it نِظاماorder
Hashim's state has praised you from of old;
If it boasts, you become its tongue
so may you remain its order, as you were named.
Or it defeats, you become its sword
إذاwhen افْتخرَتْit boasts غدوْتَyou become لهاfor it لِساناًa tongue
أوِor انْتصرَتْit triumphs غدوْتَyou become لهاfor it حُساماa sword
When it boasts, you become its tongue,
or when it triumphs, you become its sword.
