ولم يَكُ فِيَّ مِنْ عَيْبٍ

أُعابُ بهِ فَيَنقُصَني

And I had no fault within me

And there was no fault in me

for which I might be blamed and diminished.

فإنّي قد صَحِبْتُ النّا

سَ فيما مَرَّ من زَمني

سَ فيما مَرَّ من زَمني

For I have kept company with peo—

فلم أحسُدْ أخا نِعَم

ولم أشْمَتْ بمُمْتَحَن

ولم أشْمَتْ بمُمْتَحَن

I never envied one blessed with bounty,

So I did not envy anyone blessed with bounty,

nor gloated over one put to trial.

nor gloat over anyone afflicted.

لذاكَ اللهُ يَرعاني

لذاكَ اللهُ يَرعاني

ويَكْفيني ويَحْرُسُني

ويَكْفيني ويَحْرُسُني

For that, God watches over me,

For that reason, God watches over me

suffices me, and guards me.

and meets my needs and guards me.
