أقولُ يا أهلَ تَبريزَ لكلِّكُمُ

أقولُ يا أهلَ تَبريزَ لكلِّكُمُ

سوى أكابرَ بين العَصْرِ أفْرادا

سوى أكابرَ بين العَصْرِ أفْرادا

I say to all of you, O people of Tabriz,

Except for eminent men, peerless in this age:

فيكم جَوادٌ وفيكم مَن يَضِنُّ غِنىً

فيكم جَوادٌ وفيكم مَن يَضِنُّ غِنىً

فدفْنُ مَن شَحَّ منكم في اسْتِ مَن جادا

فدفْنُ مَن شَحَّ منكم في اسْتِ مَن جادا

Among you is a generous man, and among you one who begrudges his wealth;

So let the miser among you be buried in the ass of whoever is generous.
