وسألتُand I asked عنabout حاليmy state إذاwhen فارَقْتُهI parted from him
وسألتُ عن حالي إذا فارَقْتُه
حاليmy state إذاwhen شَطّgrew distant المَزارُthe place of visitation كَحالهlike his state
حالي إذا شَطّ المَزارُ كَحاله
And I asked about my state when I parted from him.
I asked how I would fare when we parted
My state, when the place of visitation grows distant, is like his.
My state when the pilgrimage site was left behind would be like his
وأرَىand I see بفَضْلِin the loose end of الكُمِّthe sleeve عَيْنَthe eye of غزالةٍa female gazelle
وأرَى بفَضْلِ الكُمِّ عَيْنَ غزالةٍ
وأَرىand I see غداةَon the morning of الرَّملِthe sands عَيْنَthe eye of غَزالهhis gazelle
وأَرى غداةَ الرَّملِ عَيْنَ غَزاله
And in the sleeve’s loose end I see a gazelle’s eye.
And I saw through copious weeping the eye of a gazelle
And on the morning amid the sands I see his gazelle’s eye.
And I saw the next morning the eye of a gazelle
