    Whenever I go remembering Dhikriyya,

My heart grows full of passion once again.

A fawn, like the oryx in neck and glance,

And a slender bough bearing a radiant full moon.

I wonder: shall I see him, while the night is dark,

Rising radiant between my two cloaks,

As I pluck all I can from the roses of his cheeks,

With the hands of glances, roses ripe for picking,

And quench my burning thirst with his sweet saliva,

And am served delicious wine from his mouth?

May the mother of passion be bereaved of me if I am

Seen unmindful of him or forgetful.
