إِذا ما قَصَدت الناس فَاِقصد أَخا نَدا

إِذا ما قَصَدت الناس فَاِقصد أَخا نَدا

طَليق المَحيا مجزلاً في هِباتِهِ

طَليق المَحيا مجزلاً في هِباتِهِ

When you turn to people, seek a man of generosity,

When you intend to meet people, then intend a brother, friend,

Cheerful of countenance, lavish in his gifts.

Of radiant countenance, open-handed with his bounty;

فَإِن جِئتَهُ في الحَشر تَرجو نَوالَهُ

فَإِن جِئتَهُ في الحَشر تَرجو نَوالَهُ

فَيُعطيك ما تَختار مِن حَسَناتِهِ

فَيُعطيك ما تَختار مِن حَسَناتِهِ

For if you come to him at the Gathering, hoping for his bounty,

For if you come to him at the gathering hoping for his favor,

Then he will give you whatever you choose from his good deeds.

He will grant you the good things you choose from his virtues.
