تَخيل إِنساني عَلَيهِ رَقيبا
The apparition hid itself from me, until it seemed that it
The shade hides the phantom from me, as if
imagined the pupil of my eye to be a watcher over it.
My imagination had placed a watcher over it.

وَظَنَّ خَيالي لِلنحول غَريبا

Once it would cover the branches I loved,
and took my image for a stranger because of my emaciation.
And my fantasy found its leanness strange.
