تَزودTake provisions فَخَيرfor the best الزادprovisions ماwhat كانَis باقياًenduring
تَزود فَخَير الزاد ما كانَ باقياً
وَخِليand abandon الأَمانيwishes المُسفِراتgiving rise عَنto الكَربdistress
وَخِلي الأَماني المُسفِرات عَن الكَرب
Take provisions, for the best provisions are those that endure.
The best provision is that which lasts
And abandon wishes that give rise to distress.
Leave behind extravagant hopes that lead to worry
يَسارthe left hand اللَياليof the nights مِنكَfrom you فيin الأَخذtaking لَمnot تَزَلceased
يَسار اللَيالي مِنكَ في الأَخذ لَم تَزَل
بِأَسرَعswifter مِنthan يُمناكyour right hand فيin طَلَبseeking الكسبgain
بِأَسرَع مِن يُمناك في طَلَب الكسب
The left hand of the nights, in taking from you, has always been
The nights keep taking from you and don’t stop
Swifter than your right hand in seeking gain.
Faster than your efforts to earn and prosper
