بَعضsome of الرِجالthe men يَعدcounts الوَهمillusion عارفةa favor
بَعض الرِجال يَعد الوَهم عارفة
فيin جودgenerosity مَنone who هُوَhe بِالإِحسانof benevolence مُتَهَمsuspected
في جود مَن هُوَ بِالإِحسان مُتَهَم
Some men count an illusion as a favor
Some men consider fantasy a mistress;
in the generosity of one suspected of benevolence.
In generosity, he of beneficence stands accused.
وَفيand among الرِجالthe men حصورchaste العَقلof mind ذوهمpossessed of care
وَفي الرِجال حصور العَقل ذوهم
آذانُهُhis ears بِالأَمانيfrom wishes لَيسَnot تَحتلمhave wet dreams
آذانُهُ بِالأَماني لَيسَ تَحتلم
And among men is one chaste of mind, full of care;
Yet in men, the mind's limits are assumed;
his ears do not have wet dreams from wishes.
Their ears by desires - not dreams - seem possessed.
