قُمrise إِلىto اللذاتpleasures وَاِغنَمand seize صَفوَهاtheir purest part
قُم إِلى اللذات وَاِغنَم صَفوَها
وَاِطلُبand seek الرزقlivelihood وَدَعand put aside عَنكَfrom yourself الكَسَلlaziness
وَاِطلُب الرزق وَدَع عَنكَ الكَسَل
Rise to pleasures and seize their purest delights.
Rise and seek every pleasure while life is fresh,
And seek livelihood, and cast laziness aside.
Pursue your fortune, casting off all sloth.
لاdo not تَردseek رُتبةrank قَومpeople اقعدواwere seated
لا تَرد رُتبة قَوم اقعدوا
إِنَّماonly تِلكَthat اِحتِلامa wet dream بِالدُوَلof dynasties
إِنَّما تِلكَ اِحتِلام بِالدُوَل
Do not seek the rank of those seated in power.
Do not refuse the ranks of those who sit,
That is merely a wet dream of dynastic power.
For dreams of glory soon give place to ruth.
