    Rajab surpasses the crescent moons of festivals

    With the radiance of a face shining in the gathering.

    روحي الفِداء لِذَلِكَ العقاد

    Beauty has tied for him a banner of loveliness;

    My soul be a ransom for that knot-maker!

    His glances have unsheathed his swords,

    And they now lie in sheaths made of livers.

    A gazelle fawn, he sways with coquetry and bends—

    How wondrous—like a swaying bough of the bān tree!

    An idol of beauty—how many were entranced when he appeared

    In his bewitching beauty, from among his worshippers!
