لقَد زارَني مِن بَعد حَول مُودِعاً

لقَد زارَني مِن بَعد حَول مُودِعاً

وَطَوق الدُجا قَد صارَ في قَبضة الفَجر

Indeed, he visited me after a year, bidding farewell,

He came to visit me after a long absence

And the collar of darkness had come into dawn's grasp.

While the night darkness was captured by dawn

فَأَخجَلتُهُ بِالعَتب حَتّى رَأَيتُهُ

فَأَخجَلتُهُ بِالعَتب حَتّى رَأَيتُهُ

يَزيح الثُريّا بِالهِلال عَن البَدر

So I embarrassed him with reproach until I saw him

So I gently reproached him until I saw

Sweep the Pleiades from the full moon with the crescent.

The new moon displace the Pleiades before the full moon
