مَثوى جُنود أَو مَناخ وُفود
I remember the house of Muhammad al-Manjaki:
My covenant with Dar Al-Munjaki Muhammad
a lodging for troops, or a resting place for delegations.
An abode for armies or a refuge for delegations

Hopes delighted in his palm,
Hopes enjoy tranquility there
rain-laden, its fingers fashioned from generosity.
And the flames of its generosity are extinguished

خَضر العَوارض في بَياض خُدود
And life was fresh in his shelter, as though it were
Life in its homeland is verdant
green whiskers against the whiteness of cheeks.
Like the greenness of cheeks in the whiteness of cheeks

بيض المَواضي في أَكُف الصَيد
And the prime of youth stirred us, so you might take us for
The morning breeze shakes us and makes us imagine
white, keen-edged swords in the hands of proud lords.
The whiteness of the meadows in the palms of the hunter

Until the full moon of perfection rose and the
the sun of generosity in the constellations of tombs.
Sun of generosity orbited in the constellations of the hillocks

And the mountain of lofty deeds crumbled, and drained away was the water
The mountains of misfortunes collapsed and the
of noble acts, and the star of my good fortune vanished.
Waters of honors disappeared and the star of good fortune vanished

In everything, Adam's son has a stratagem,
Man has a solution for everything
except death and black eyes.
Except death and dark eyes

رزاء تَضيق بِهِ صُدور البيد
I marvel at my heart—how can it bear, after him,
How astonishing is my heart, that it still carries after him
a calamity too great for the bosoms of the deserts?
Distress that saddens the chests of separation

So may the steady rain of morning clouds and my tears water
My tears have quenched the thirst of the lost
a glory in whose outspread shade refuge is sought.
And my glory takes refuge in its extended shade
