I have not forgotten when I asked a lovestruck man
I did not forget when you asked me wistfully
About his love for a slayer with bewitching glances:
About the love of the charming flirt, avoid him!

مرخى اليَدين فَقالَ هَذا مالِكي
“Why do I see him, as he performs his prayer,
Why do I see him during his prayers
With both hands hanging loose?” He replied, “He is Mālikī—my master.”
With arms slack, and he said this is my way.
