عِباءً مِن الاثم في صُبحي وَفي غلس
How long shall I bear, from myself and from my breath,
To what do I carry of myself and of myself
A burden of sin in my morning and in the predawn gloom?
A cloak of sin in my morn and at night
عَسىmay الكَريمthe Generous One بِلُطفthrough kindness مِنهُfrom Him يُنقذنيrescue me
عَسى الكَريم بِلُطف مِنهُ يُنقذني
مِنهُfrom it فَاخلصso I may find release شَروىlike الطَيرthe bird فيin قَفَسa cage
مِنهُ فَاخلص شَروى الطَير في قَفَس
May the Generous One, through kindness from Him, rescue me
Perhaps the Generous with kindness from Him will save me
From it, so I may find release, like a bird in a cage.
From it so free the birds' throats in a cage
