In the gazelle’s homeland dwells a people
In the lands of Rūm dwell people
from whom radiance shines forth;
From whom radiance shines.
كُلَماwhenever لاحواthey gleam مَساءًat evening
كُلَما لاحوا مَساءً
تَحسدenvies الأَرضthe earth السَماءthe sky
تَحسد الأَرض السَماء
whenever they appear at evening,
Whenever they gleam at evening,
the earth envies the sky.
The sky envies the earth.
