My soul be ransom for your young beloved, with all his visible charms—
My soul be ransom for one whose glances are deadly;
at times, for love of him, he kills me and revives me.
At times he makes me die of love for him, and brings me back to life.

Never do I spend a night harboring in my heart the thought of visiting him
Never have I spent a night harboring in my heart a wish to visit him,
but he sends a dream-apparition of himself to summon me.
But he has sent a phantom of himself to beckon me.

A bough surpassing a Khatti spear in suppleness.
