وَإِذا اِبتليت بِفقد أَهلك وَالحِمى

وَإِذا اِبتليت بِفقد أَهلك وَالحِمى

وَشغلت في قَطع الفلا وَالفدفد

And if you are afflicted by the loss of your kin and homeland,

And occupied with crossing deserts and barren wastes,

لا تَنزانّ بِغَير ساحة ماجد

لا تَنزانّ بِغَير ساحة ماجد

أَو في حِمى عَذب المَراشف أَغيد

أَو في حِمى عَذب المَراشف أَغيد

Do not alight except in a noble man's courtyard,

Or in the refuge of a graceful, sweet-lipped beloved.
