يُغرد وَالناي الرَخيم يَشنف
And in a garden of delight, a son of the thicket spent the night,
A garden of delight where the son of Aykah dwelled,
warbling, while the mellow flute delighted the ears.
The flute sings sweetly and gently sighs,
وَقَدand indeed ضمناenfolded us فيهاin it مِنof اللَيلthe night سابِغاًample

And there we were enfolded in night's ample
We spent there a long night,
robe, hemmed with the fringes of clouds.
Cloaked in clouds’ billowing robes,
وَظَلتand kept عَرانينnoses (spouts) الأَباريقthe ewers بِالطلاwith wine
وَظَلت عَرانين الأَباريق بِالطلا

إِلى أَن بَدَت كافورة الصُبح ترعف
And the ewers' noses kept bleeding wine,
Pitchers brimmed with dew until
until the camphor of dawn appeared.
Dawn’s camphor began to shimmer and shake.
