وَمَصونand a guarded one عَلَيهِover him غيرةjealous protectiveness حُسنbeauty
وَمَصون عَلَيهِ غيرة حُسن
حَجبتهُhas veiled him عَنfrom أَعيُنeyes الأَوهامthe imaginings
حَجبتهُ عَن أَعيُن الأَوهام
And a guarded beloved—beauty's jealous care for him
And protected by jealousy over his beauty
Has veiled him from the eyes of imagination.
It has veiled him from the eyes of delusions
حُبُهُlove for him فيin القُلوبthe hearts سِرٌّa secret خَفيّhidden
حُبُهُ في القُلوب سِرٌّ خَفيّ
كَحُلولlike the dwelling of الأَرواحthe souls فيin الأَجسامthe bodies
كَحُلول الأَرواح في الأَجسام
Love for him is a hidden secret in hearts,
His love in hearts is a hidden secret
Like the dwelling of souls in bodies.
Like the dwelling of spirits in bodies
ملكhe possessed الحُسنbeauty لَمdid not يَدَعleave مِنهُof it شَيئاًanything
ملك الحُسن لَم يَدَع مِنهُ شَيئاً
لِسِواهُfor anyone other than him يَراهُhe sees it فيin الأَحلامdreams
لِسِواهُ يَراهُ في الأَحلام
He possessed beauty and left none of it
The king of beauty left nothing of it
For anyone else to see in dreams.
For another to see him in dreams
