قُرنفلناour carnation العُطريthe fragrant لَوناًin hue كَأَنَّهُas though it were
قُرنفلنا العُطري لَوناً كَأَنَّهُ
خُدودcheeks العَذارىthe maidens ضَمختanointed بِعَبيرwith perfume
خُدود العَذارى ضَمخت بِعَبير
Our fragrant carnation, in hue, is like
Our crimson carnations seem as though
maidens’ cheeks anointed with perfume:
The cheeks of virgins have been stained with perfume.
مَداهنointment jars ياقوتruby بِأَعلىatop زَبَرجدٍperidot
مَداهن ياقوت بِأَعلى زَبَرجدٍ
لَقَدindeed أَحكَمَتperfected صُنعاًin craftsmanship بِحكمby the decree of قَديرthe Almighty
لَقَد أَحكَمَت صُنعاً بِحكم قَدير
ruby ointment jars atop peridot,
You have adorned them with rubies upon the highest agate;
indeed, perfectly fashioned by the Almighty’s decree.
Indeed, You have perfected their making, O Able One.
