يَهواهُ إِلّا عَلى تَوهمِهِ
Veiled from sight, unseen by the eye of anyone
A veiled one, unseen by the eye of one who
who loves him, except in his imagination.

يُسكرintoxicates سُكريmy drunkenness مِنfrom المدامwine إِذاwhen
يُسكر سُكري مِن المدام إِذا
مَرَّpasses بِفِكريthrough my mind خَيالimage مَبسمِهِhis smiling mouth
مَرَّ بِفِكري خَيال مَبسمِهِ
My wine-born drunkenness itself grows drunk whenever
My drunkenness from wine is itself intoxicated when
the image of his smile passes through my thoughts.
