A Rūmī of that sanctuary, possessor of blue-gray eyes.
The Rūmī of that sanctuary, he of the hazel eyes.
Veil your beauty—the people’s minds have gone utterly dazed.
Veil your beauty; people's minds have grown bewildered.

O you whose separation’s blaze surpasses the heat of molten metal,
O you whose parting's blaze surpassed the heat of molten metal.
The dwellings stand empty; before love of you, they were inhabited.
Dwellings stand empty; before loving you, they were inhabited.
