يا وَحيداً في السَجايا

وَالمَزايا بِاِتِفاق

O you, unrivaled in virtues

O lonely one in prisons

and merits, by common accord;

And virtues by agreement

وَشِهاباً في سَمَوا

وَشِهاباً في سَمَوا

ت العُلى سامي الطِباق

and a shooting star in the heavens

And a shooting star in the heavens

of glory, lofty in their tiers;

Of sublime structure

وَجَواداً عِندَهُ الأَن

وَجَواداً عِندَهُ الأَن

داد عَرجاً في السِباق

داد عَرجاً في السِباق

and a noble steed beside whom rivals

And a generous one whose generosity

are lame in the race.

Is a lofty ascent in the race

أَنتَ بَحر دونَهُ الأَب

أَنتَ بَحر دونَهُ الأَب

حُر مِن بَعض السَواق

حُر مِن بَعض السَواق

You are an ocean beside which seas

You are an ocean below which oceans

are merely irrigation channels.

Are but some creeks

لا تَسمني حَصر أَوصا

لا تَسمني حَصر أَوصا

فِكَ فكري في وِثاق

فِكَ فكري في وِثاق

Do not task me with enumerating the qualities

Do not describe me, confine my thoughts

that are yours; my thought is in fetters.

In shackles

راعَني الدَهر كَما قَد

راعَني الدَهر كَما قَد

رَعت مَصراً بِالفُراق

رَعت مَصراً بِالفُراق

Time has alarmed me, just as you have

Time has nurtured me as Egypt was nurtured

alarmed Egypt with your departure.
