    يَثني عَلَيكَ وَلا يَأتي بِثانيكا

    Time has bound itself by oath to be loyal to you;

    It praises you and brings forth no one to match you.

    وَإِن سَخى فَبفضل مِن مَساعيكا

    If it strikes, it is through decrees you enforce;

    And if it is generous, it is through bounty from your endeavors.

    May a share of that bounty gladden this feast, now that

    Its grandeur, then its adornments, have come from your benefactions.

    Its crescent has gained a station above the full moon,

    Its face turned toward the thresholds of your assembly hall,

    Adorned with surpassing benefactions from you,

    Perfumed with precious scents from your perfumes.

    It came to congratulate the world on you, and we, on this feast,

    O joy of faith and the world, congratulate you.

    Who is there to rival you in the honor you have attained?

    And who comes close to you in judgment and matches you?

    For the sun, however high it rises, still falls short

    Of even a fraction of the least of your heights.

    وَالبَحرُ قَطرة ماءٍ مِن غَواديكا

    And the full moon is a glimmer of light from you that we behold;

    And the sea is a drop of water from your morning rainclouds.

    And every mountain that towers high is belittled

    When a hollow appears in the direction of your valley.

    And every glory is acquired from your lofty eminence,

    And every cause for pride we see comes from your fringes.

    And what the forebears of old recounted and told us

    Of excellence is but a part of your lofty virtues.

    Ascetics bow submissively before your chastity,

    And the highest celestial sphere envies your qualities.

    O son of al-Husam, whose aid is for the faith,

    You are the one for whom lives are offered; all people give themselves for you.

    All our feast days are gathered in the day we see you,

    And the Night of Decree is but a moment among your nights.
