رَهن الأَسى وَطَعين سَهم البين
You left me behind in the dwellings and departed,
I left you in the abode and went away
A captive of sorrow, pierced by separation’s arrow.
A hostage of grief and agony of separation

I weep as though I owe a binding debt
I weep as if it were a duty upon me
That, under love’s law, I pay from my eye.
To pay it off in the law of love from my eyes
