لَولا يَزيد وَتأميلي خِلافَتَهُ

لَقُلتُ ذا مِن زمانِ الناسِ إِدبارُ

لَقُلتُ ذا مِن زمانِ الناسِ إِدبارُ

Were it not for Yazid and my hope for his caliphate,

Had it not been for Yazid and my hopes for his caliphate
