فَقُلتُso I said إِنَّindeed أَباAbu حَفصٍHafs تَدارَكَنيcame to my rescue
مِنهُfrom him نَوالٌa bounty كَفانيspared me الدينَdebt والسَّفَراand travel
So I said, “Indeed, Abu Hafs has come to my rescue:
a bounty from him spared me debt and travel,
وَشَرَّدَand banished الهَمَّcare عَنّيfrom me بَعدَafter ماthat حَضَرَتhad arrived
مِنهُof it حَواضِرُvisitations لاnot آلوI am able لَهاfor them صَدَراa turning away
and banished care from me, after there had come
visitations of it I had no power to turn away.
فَكُنتُso I was فيكُمamong you كَمَمطُورٍlike one rained upon بِبَلدَتِهِin his own land
فَسُرَّso he rejoiced أَنthat جَمَعَhe combined الأَوطانَhomelands والمَطَراand rain
So among you I was like one receiving rain in his own land,
delighted to have home and rain together.”
