ماnot عالَجَgrappled with الناسُpeople مِثلَthe like of الحُبِّlove مِنof سَقَمٍillness
ما عالَجَ الناسُ مِثلَ الحُبِّ مِن سَقَمٍ
وَلاnor بَرىwore away مِثلُهُits like عَظماًbone وَلاnor جَسَداbody
وَلا بَرى مِثلُهُ عَظماً وَلا جَسَدا
People have never grappled with an illness like love,
No cure is likened to love for man's diseases,
Nor has any other so worn away bone or body.
Nor any body, nor limbs compared with his huge frame.
ماnot يَلبَثُtakes long الحُبُّlove أَنthat تَبدوappear شَواهِدُهُits signs
ما يَلبَثُ الحُبُّ أَن تَبدو شَواهِدُهُ
مِنfrom المُحِبِّthe lover وَإِنand even if لَمdid not يُبدِهِreveal it أَبَداever
مِن المُحِبِّ وَإِن لَم يُبدِهِ أَبَدا
It is not long before love's signs appear
The signs of love are soon apparent in lovers
From the lover, even if he never reveals it.
Though love is never openly expressed by them.
