إِنَّindeed الحُسامَthe sharp sword وَإِنeven if رَثَّتhave become worn مَضارِبُهُits cutting edges
إِنَّ الحُسامَ وَإِن رَثَّت مَضارِبُهُ
إِذاwhen ضَرَبتَyou strike بِهِwith it مَكروهَةًa dreaded adversity فَصَلاit cleaves through
إِذا ضَرَبتَ بِهِ مَكروهَةً فَصَلا
Indeed, the sword, though its cutting edges are worn,
Though the sword be blunt in battle rage
when you strike at adversity with it, still cleaves through.
When you strike the foe with it, it still prevails
