فاشتَقت إِنَّ البَعيدَ الدارِ مَعذورُ
Have the tribe’s dwelling places and houses stirred you?
Did songs of life and homes awaken longing in you,
So you yearned; indeed, one whose home is distant is excused.
So you yearned, for one far from home has excuse?

And there would dwell, when our life was delightful,
Though life with us is soft, white-skinned companions,
Fair-skinned, amiable women, like statues, dark-eyed.
Like idols, dark-eyed houris.
