وَكَم مِن مُليمٍ لَم يُصَب بِمَلامَةٍ

وَكَم مِن مُليمٍ لَم يُصَب بِمَلامَةٍ

وَمُتَّبعٍ بِالذَنبِ لَيسَ لَهُ ذَنبُ

وَمُتَّبعٍ بِالذَنبِ لَيسَ لَهُ ذَنبُ

And how many a blameworthy man has escaped reproach,

And many a man pursued for wrongdoing has done no wrong.

وَكَم مِن مُحِبٍّ صَدَّ عَن غَيرِ بغضَةٍ

وَكَم مِن مُحِبٍّ صَدَّ عَن غَيرِ بغضَةٍ

وَإِن لَم يَكُن في ودِّ خُلَّتِهِ عَتبُ

وَإِن لَم يَكُن في ودِّ خُلَّتِهِ عَتبُ

And how many a lover has turned away without hatred,

Though his beloved's affection gives no cause for reproach.
