ياO أُمَّmother of طَلحَةَTalha إِنَّindeed البَينَseparation قَدalready أفِداhas drawn near
يا أُمَّ طَلحَةَ إِنَّ البَينَ قَد أفِدا
قَلَّhas become brief الثَواءُthe stay لَئِنif indeed كانَis الرَحيلُdeparture غَداtomorrow
قَلَّ الثَواءُ لَئِن كانَ الرَحيلُ غَدا
O Umm Talha, separation has indeed drawn near.
Brief is the stay, if indeed departure is tomorrow.
أَمسَىhas come to be العِراقيُّthe Iraqi لاnot يَدريhe knows إِذاwhen بَرَزَتshe appears
أَمسَى العِراقيُّ لا يَدري إِذا بَرَزَت
مَنwho ذاthat one تَطَوَّفَmade the circuit بِالأَركانِaround the corners أَوor سَجَداprostrated himself
مَن ذا تَطَوَّفَ بِالأَركانِ أَو سَجَدا
The Iraqi, when she appears, no longer knows
who has circled the corners or prostrated himself.
