مُطَوَّقَةٌa collared dove عَلىupon فَنَنٍa branch بكورُearly-rising
Was your longing stirred by the song
The dawn has stirred you to sing
of an early-rising collared dove upon a branch?
Adorned with dewy buds aplenty
تَفَجَّعُshe laments فَوقَatop غُصنٍa bough مِنof أَراكٍan arak tree
وَتَحتَand beneath لُبانِهاher breast فَنَنٌa branch نَضيرُfresh and green
She laments atop a bough of an arak tree,
Lamenting on a branch of araks
and beneath her breast is a fresh green branch.
While beneath sweet buds galore
