Whose is the dwelling at Dhat al-Jaysh,

    now effaced and worn?

I stood by it, questioning it,

and their pale camels passed in bands.

They ascended with you onto the desert's open expanse,

while the grief-stricken one had grown restless.

It grew unrecognizable after its dweller departed,

so its people became scattered groups.
