أَقولُI say التِماسَseeking العُذرِpardon لَمّاwhen ظَلَمتِنيyou wronged me
أَقولُ التِماسَ العُذرِ لَمّا ظَلَمتِني
وَحَمَّلتِنيand you burdened me with ذَنباًa fault وَماand not كُنتُI was مُذنِباguilty
وَحَمَّلتِني ذَنباً وَما كُنتُ مُذنِبا
I speak, seeking pardon, now that you have wronged me,
I say, seeking pardon, when you wronged me
and burdened me with a sin, though I was no sinner:
And burdened me with a fault, though I was not guilty:
هَبينيconsider me امرأًa man إِمّاeither بَريئاًinnocent ظَلَمتِهِyou wronged him
هَبيني امرأً إِمّا بَريئاً ظَلَمتِهِ
وإِمّاor else مُسيئاًa wrongdoer قَدalready أَنابَrepented وأَعتَباand made amends
وإِمّا مُسيئاً قَد أَنابَ وأَعتَبا
Suppose me a man—either innocent, one you wronged,
Consider me a man—either innocent, whom you have wronged,
or else an offender who has repented and made amends.
Or else a wrongdoer who has repented and made amends.
