لِعَمياءَinto blind folly حَتَّىuntil استَكَّgrew deaf مِنهُof him المَسامِعُthe ears
And he kept planning treachery and oath-breaking, riding
He still intends betrayal and breaking pacts, riding
into blind folly, until his ears grew deaf.
The blind until the ears are deafened.
وَحَتّىand until أُبِيدَwas annihilated الجَمعُthe host مِنهُof his فَأَصبَحواso they became
كَبَعضِlike some of الأُلىthose whom كانَتused to تُصيبُstrike القَوارِعُcalamities
And until his host was annihilated, and they became
Until the group is destroyed by him and so they became
like some of those whom calamities used to strike.
Like some oxen that met their fate.
فَأَضحَواso they became بِنَهرَيby the two rivers of بابِلٍBabylon ورُؤوسُهُمand their heads
تَخُبُّtrot بِهاwith them فيماin what is هُناكَthere الخَوامِعُthe hyenas
So they lay by Babylon’s two rivers, while their heads
So their heads in the rivers of Babylon do sink
were borne at a trot by the hyenas there.
While here still stand the mosques.
