After the illustrious son of Abd al-Aziz—

Beyond the enemy's thorn, son of Abd al-Aziz,

Quraysh’s foremost man whenever it is mentioned—

The Quraysh revile when he is remembered,

تَبَدَّلتِ داودَ مُختارَةً

أَلا ذَلِكَ الخَلَفُ الأَعوَرُ
