وَلَم أَرَ ضوءَ النارِ حَتّى رَأَيتُها

وَلَم أَرَ ضوءَ النارِ حَتّى رَأَيتُها

بَدا مُنشِدٌ في ضَوئِها والأَصافِرُ

بَدا مُنشِدٌ في ضَوئِها والأَصافِرُ

And I did not see the fire’s light until I saw it;

I had not seen the glow of fire until I saw it,

Munshid and al-Asafir appeared in its light.

A singer appeared in its glow and the yellow birds.
