I have accustomed my people, whenever a guest rouses me,
I have taught my people, whenever a guest alerts me,
to my slaughtering heavily pregnant she-camels, in my poverty and my prosperity.
To slaughter the fattest sheep, in hardship or ease.
إِنّيindeed I إِذاwhen خَفِيَتfaded from sight نارٌa fire لِمُرمِلَةٍof a destitute woman
أُلفَىI am found بِأَرفَعِon the highest تَلٍّhill رافِعاًraising نارِيmy fire
Indeed, when a destitute woman's fire fades from sight,
For when a fire is hidden for a late night visitor,
I am found on the highest hill, raising my fire.
I kindle the highest hill, raising my fire.
ذاكَthat وَإِنّيand indeed I عَلىtoward جاريmy neighbor لَذوtruly possessed of حَدَبٍtender care
أَحنوI show tenderness عَلَيهِtoward him بِماwith what يُحنىtenderness is shown عَلىtoward الجارِthe neighbor
Such is my way; and I am indeed solicitous toward my neighbor,
That is me, and I bend down to a ringlet-haired neighbor,
showing him the tenderness shown to a neighbor.
As one bends down with kindness upon a neighbor.
