لَمْdid not يَعْرِفِknow الدَّهْرُtime قَدْرِيmy worth حينَwhen ضَيَّعَنِيcast me aside
لَمْ يَعْرِفِ الدَّهْرُ قَدْرِي حينَ ضَيَّعَنِي
وَكيفَand how يَعْرِفُknow قَدْرَworth اللَّؤْلُؤِof the pearl الصَّدَفُthe shell
وَكيفَ يَعْرِفُ قَدْرَ اللَّؤْلُؤِ الصَّدَفُ
Time did not know my worth when it cast me aside.
Time didn't know my worth when it lost me,
And how can the shell know the worth of the pearl?
How could a shell know the worth of a pearl?
