Praises grieved Nizar and displeased Ya'rub,
There was gloom for Nizar and desertion for Ya'rub
borne in bridal procession to a tail, since I found no head.
A praise poem was led to disgrace when I found no chief
وَلَوْand if رَآنيhe saw me ابْنُson of هِنْدٍHind عَضَّhe bit أَنْمُلَهُhis fingertips

And had Ibn Hind seen me, he would have bitten his fingertips
And if the son of Hind had seen me, he would have bitten his fingers
in rage at an Umayyad who praises people.
In rage against an Umayyad who praises the people
