اَأُمَيْمَO Umaym إِنْif لَمْnot تَسْمَحيyou grant بِزيارَةٍwith a visit
اَأُمَيْمَ إِنْ لَمْ تَسْمَحي بِزيارَةٍ
بُخْلاًout of stinginess فَجُوديthen be generous بِالخيالِwith the phantom الطَّارِقِcoming by night
بُخْلاً فَجُودي بِالخيالِ الطَّارِقِ
O Umaym, if you will not grant a visit
My darling, if you refuse to let me visit
out of stinginess, then bestow your phantom that comes by night.
Out of stinginess, then my imagination comes visiting at night
وَاللهِby God لاnot يَمْحوerases الوُشاةُthe slanderers وَلاnor النَّوىseparation
وَاللهِ لا يَمْحو الوُشاةُ وَلا النَّوى
سِمَةًa mark لِحُبِّكِof your love فيin ضَمِيرِthe heart العاشِقِthe lover
سِمَةً لِحُبِّكِ في ضَمِيرِ العاشِقِ
By God, neither slanderers nor separation can erase
By God, neither the informers nor time
a mark of your love in the lover’s heart.
Can erase the mark of my love in a lover's heart
