Love's utmost trial is that I should be blamed,
The effort of youth is that I am blamed,
and passion reveals my hidden secret.
And passion reveals my hidden secret.

O my two companions, be gentle with one enslaved by love,
O my friends, be gentle with a lovesick one,
whose streaming tears longing has drained.
Whose tears of youth are shed in anguish.

And lightning shone, almost robbing him of sleep;
A lightning flashed which almost took away my mind,
so look closely toward it, you two, and watch it.
So avert your gaze to it and act with virtue.

a gaze that stirs sorrows in my heart.
An eye that stirs worries in my heart.

Were it not for Umaymah, I would not have thrilled to lightning
If it weren't for the beautiful one, I wouldn't be disturbed by lightning
with blazing fire-strikers, nor breathed in a breeze.
That kindles the firewood nor split by the breeze.

So halt where the tracks of her trailing hem were erased
So stand where it erased its trails,
by a crosswind that left the dwellings mere traces.
Departing the homes as customs.

And decay has thinned the tent-trench, as though she
And the tryst that decay destroyed it, as if
had given it her cracked bracelet.
She gave him her carved bracelet as a gift.

May the thundering clouds over her dwelling ever be
The one waiting in her ruins is still raining
abundant in rain, and the fluttering breeze languid.
Generously while the blowing breeze is sick.

I can't forget nor can I forget the farewell and her words
while her mouth revealed its strung pearls:
While the mouth reveals the strung pearls.

While the eye crushes its eyelid out of drowsiness.

Then weary, docile riding camels carried them by night,
So the tame camels strode with them briskly,
yearning toward the house of al-Musayyab, mad with longing.
Yearning towards the family of Musayyab eagerly.
