فِيهِin it السَّحابُthe clouds وَطَيْرُهُand its birds يَتَرنَّمُsing melodiously
And a retreat for pleasure—their train is trailed
And a parade for revelry trails its skirt,
Through it by the clouds, while its birds sing.
In it the clouds, and its birds murmur songs.
زُرْناwe visited الرِّياضَthe gardens بهِthere وَقَدْand already بَسطَlengthened الخُطاthe strides
فِيهاin them الصَّباthe east wind وَشَقيقُهاand their anemones يَتَبَسَّمُsmile
We visited the gardens there, with long strides already taken
We visited the gardens with it, and it spread the carpets,
Through them by the east wind, while their anemones smiled.
In it the breeze, and its rose smiles.
فَكَأنّماso it was as though نُشِرَتْwere spread out بِهِنَّamong them غَلائِلٌthin robes
خُضْرٌgreen أُريقَwas spilled علىover حَواشِيهاtheir borders الدَّمُthe blood
So it was as though thin robes had been spread among them,
So it seemed as if green braids were displayed
Green, with blood spilled over their borders.
Green, shed upon its edges, the sap.
