بِحَديثها وَعَن الخَنى شُمْسِ
And companionable maidens draw near when entreated
And companions who draw near when gloom descends
For their conversation, yet are averse to obscene speech.
With their talk, and the sun of sorrow sets,

They fold the earth toward me in bashfulness,
Folding the earth in soft twilight,
Beneath the darkness, with smooth faces.
Beneath the darkness with bright faces,

تطأ الدُّجى بِخَلاخِلٍ خُرْسٍ
The heralds of night's death cried out, and they departed,
The stars of night spoke and then departed,
Treading the darkness with mute anklets.
Trampling the gloom on silent feet.
