قد سد بالجود المردد خَلَّتي
Who will bear word from me to al-Sadid? For he
He who informed you truthfully of me
Has met my need with his repeated generosity.
Has sealed with generosity my hesitant deficiency

وإذا رشقن الحادثات فجنتي
You have been nothing but my garden—may it never wither—
I was nothing but a paradise without thorns
And when calamities shoot their arrows, you are my shield.
Yet when misfortunes pelted me, I became a hell

باليسر من نعماك مجحف عسرتي
You lightened my burdens, so I went forth exchanging
You lightened my burdens and I rejoiced
My crushing hardship for ease bestowed through your favors.
With the ease of Your blessings instead of my harsh misery

How many a favor of yours I cannot thank enough
How many favors from You I cannot thank enough
Has loosened the bonds of my grief and bolstered my strength.
That resolved the worries of my soul and strengthened my faith

O You who has the will each wretched day
A resolve sharper than the unsheathed sword.
To draw one of the swords of resolve

I have always turned away from others' gifts,
I still desire to avoid the company of friends
For my longing is firmly fixed on the bounty of your hands.
For in the dew of Your palm my desire is fulfilled

So I shall surely thank you whenever I sit in company;
I cannot thank You while convening in an assembly
And when I am alone, my solitude passes in remembrance of you.
And when alone my solitude passes with the mention of You

My sustenance has always been your charge throughout my stay;
My strength to You however long I stay has not ceased
So be generous, and hasten it for the duration of my journey.
So favor and hasten it for the duration of my journey
