يا زين دين الإله يا من
يحسنexcels فيin القولspeech والفعالand deeds
يحسن في القول والفعال
O adornment of God's faith, O you
O beauty of God's religion, O you
who excel in speech and deeds,
Who speaks and acts with excellence,
إليكto you أشكوI complain of الكمالal-Kamal فالحظso note
إليك أشكو الكمال فالحظ
نقصانthe shortfall in حظّيmy share منfrom الكمالal-Kamal
نقصان حظّي من الكمال
to you I complain of al-Kamal; so note
To you I complain of perfection, for fate
the shortfall in my share from al-Kamal.
Has made my share of perfection decrease.
منfrom بعدafter ماthat كانhe had been ليfor me مالاwealth
من بعد ما كان لي مالا
آويI seek refuge إليهto him ورأسand the principal of مالwealth
آوي إليه ورأس مال
After he had been wealth to me,
After I had wealth
to whom I turned for refuge, and my capital,
To which I could turn and a capital,
فصارthen he became منfrom بعدafter ذاكthat جهماgrim
فصار من بعد ذاك جهما
يتركhe neglects حقيmy due ولاand does not يباليcare
يترك حقي ولا يبالي
he thereafter became grim,
It became thereafter ignorance
neglecting my due and caring nothing.
That neglects my right and cares not.
