Ibn Sanja has departed—may they not be blessed,
The son of Sanja has abandoned me
his deeds—a man no one could endure.
Shall I pine for a man who feels no pain?
وهاand behold أناI ذاhere خلفةa successor خلفةa successor
وها أنا ذا خلفة خلفة
أجِدّI renew مداماًwine وأبليand I wear out مداساfootwear
أجِدّ مداماً وأبلي مداسا
And here I am, a successor, a successor,
Yet here I remain, awaiting
Replenishing wine and wearing out shoes.
