Husam al-Din, the sea of your bounty overflows.

It refreshes the lingering life of every thirsty soul.

I saw you bare of every disgrace

That mars you, and free of every fault.

So with you, wealth is scattered,

And with you, praise is gathered together.

Tomorrow, O you safe from every unseen peril,

Our camels head for the Abode of Peace.

Tomorrow, by your father, we shall fill both its sides

With praise of your great, lofty merits.

Am I to lead them as they choke the air with dust,

Across my land, where lies the gore of necks and heads,

While Khafaja is on my roads—a clan

That holds consuming the forbidden lawful?

So, alongside your bounty, gird me with a keen sword,

Whose dawn dispels the night of dust,

Like waters rippling in a pool,

    Or lightning blazing within clouds.

And here I am unarmed, but for a tongue

Like your resolve, neither notched nor blunt.

So there is no disgrace for a man in this,

If he asks a sword of Husam.
